Cisco is another favorite area of the island due to its relaxed pace and proximity to great beaches. Located on the southwest part of the island, Cisco has it all – rolling hills and pastures, ponds, farmland, and the beach. Cisco Beach, the Bluff, and Ladies Beach are all popular spots for surfers and sun-worshippers. There’s even a surf school at Cisco Beach during the busy summer months. Right near the beach, you will find Hummock Pond and Clark’s Cove – two great ponds for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, or strolling the shores. Adjacent to the ponds is Ram’s Pasture, a huge swath of land originally set aside as “common land” by Nantucket’s original shareholders in the 1600s. It was once used for grazing sheep and cows, farming, and harvesting wood. This beautiful spot, now owned by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, offers views of the ocean and is a great place to hike, especially with a dog. Finally, nearby is Miacomet Golf Club, an expertly maintained public course that offers 18 holes and a great restaurant.THINGS TO DO IN CISCO, NANTUCKET
Aside from active pursuits, there are a few great spots to relax and shop in the Cisco area. It’s no secret that one of the most fun ways to spend a summer afternoon on Nantucket is a visit to the world-famous Cisco Brewers – Triple Eight Distillery – Nantucket Vineyard. Stop in and enjoy a pint of their excellent craft beer, try a creative cocktail garnished with herbs from their garden, or sip a glass of wine, all the while enjoying some live music in a sunshine-filled courtyard. They offer tours and tastings, and there is a solid food truck and raw bar presence on any given day in the summer. Right next to the brewery is Bartlett’s Ocean View Farm, the largest and oldest farm on the island. You’ll pass by their beautiful flower fields on the way up to the farm’s market, where you can find a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, grocery items, and sundries. The farm also has a full kitchen where they can prepare a meal for the whole family, or whip up something simple to take to the beach. Aside from their delicious food, the farm hosts events and activities such as yoga.
If you’re looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of town and mid island, Cisco is the place for you. And did we mention the sunsets?
