The area north of downtown and west of Brant Point is known as the Cliff. Like its neighboring areas, the Cliff is a highly sought-after area of the island for both buyers and for vacation rentals. Beautiful white sandy beaches and views of Nantucket Sound and Nantucket Harbor really make this area phenomenal. The Cliff is also primarily residential, ensuring a peaceful vibe. Quiet, set back roads give way to stately homes, many with excellent water views. This neighborhood is also home to beloved Steps Beach, named after the long set of stairs that bring you from a beautiful vista of the ocean to the soft white sand dunes below. Steps is also a favorite place to enjoy the fireworks displays on Independence Day and for the Boston Pops in August. Perfect for children and beachcombers, the water is warm and shallow and often the ebbing tide gives way to a sandbar. Steps Beach is flanked by Jetties Beach and Cliffside Beach to the east and Capaum Beach and Washing Pond Beach to the west. The Westmoor Club is also in this area, a full-service country club with activities for the whole family.CLIFF ACTIVITIES & RESTAURANTS
For those that don’t want to venture into town to dine, there are a few great options in the Cliff area. Nestled on the sand next to Cliffside Beach Club is Galley Beach Restaurant, regarded as one of the best dining experiences not only on the island, but on the East Coast. Their menu stuns with the freshest seafood, produce from local farms, and a sumptuous cocktail and wine list. Take in the sunset outside in their beach lounge area as you listen to songs of shore birds and the gentle lap of waves on the sand. Sitting on the main thoroughfare, Cliff Road, is Something Natural – an island favorite for a casual lunch. Grab some sandwiches and delicious cookies to bring to the beach or sit and enjoy them at a picnic table in their huge hydrangea-lined yard. It’s a perfect spot for the kids to run around, climb trees, or captain their yard boat! A word to the wise: make sure to save some room in your carry on for a few loaves of their famous Portuguese Bread.CLIFF VACATION RENTALS
